The `Domain Name System (DNS) <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Domain_Name_System>`_ is a hierarchical distributed naming system for computers, services, or any resource connected to the Internet or a private network.

The DNS is maintained by the ITS Network Administrators. However, documentation for some parts of it is provided here.
